The forces of the water of an ancient river have carved this magnificent arch out of the sandstone inside this canyon on the Sinai Peninsula. The small passage spirals downwards through the hole on the bottom, like climbing through the inside of a spiral sea shell - very tight, but a lot of fun!

Termessos: the best place for an ancient theatre! From more than 1000m you can look down to the Mediterranian Sea from the opposit corner of the theatre. The mountain in the background was called Solymos, today Güllük Dağ. In 334BC Alexander the Great tried to conquer the city without success. The Roman times were the most prosperous for the city and left the most buildings.

Driving between Nelson and Westport, at some point you will reach Hope Saddle, a high point within the Kahurangi National Park. If you are impressed by extensive views this is one to take in.I parked up at night in order to get the pre-dawn lights and was rewarded with the cloud formations that you see. I had to use HDR techniques otherwise the land would all have been black.
