It's an afternoon like this that makes even a skeptical, anti-Los Angeles visitor forget about all the scary things in LA. This is the kind of light that makes a photographer fall in love with the special, sparkling kind of photons which seem to only exist in the afternoons in Los Angeles. What makes the light the way it is? There is a special mixture of pollution, steam from taco stands, shameless opportunism, flaky optimism, pornographic hedonism, rampant silocone-reinforced glutius maximus exhibitionism, and the vast reflective westward sheet of the pacific ocean reflecting all that sunlight, which gives Los Angeles that magical afternoon glow which will never quite exist in the same way anywhere else.
