Broken Hill is an overlook and interesting example of erosion at the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve in San Diego, California.  The erosion features are carved into the loose sand and mud of the Bay Point formation, deposits of inland sediments dropped along the coast when the oceans were higher around 120,000 years ago.  The orange and brown hues of the formation are visually striking against the backdrop of the blue Pacific ocean in the distance. The namesake Torrey Pines are a rare kind of pine tree found only here and on an island 100+ miles to the north.
