I spent less than a day in the border town of Ipiales just to check out this small cathedral built inside a rocky gorge – Sanctuario de los Lajas which is about 7 km outside town. The cathedral is neatly constructed but has a rather tacky feel to it and I have to say that were it not for the setting the cathedral would not have been known more widely.
