360Cities is going to school

Education and 360Cities

Today we’d like to tell you about an exciting new 360Cities initiative.
 Over the past few years we’ve seen an increase in traffic to 360cities.net from school teachers who search 360Cities for content to share with their students. It’s great that advancements in classroom technologies are allowing children of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy the benefits of immersive learning by virtually visiting locations that they would not otherwise visit and that 360Cities has become a valued destination for them.

A New Service for Teachers

In many cases teachers want to integrate content directly into their lessons. Unfortunately, teachers lack the time, budget, and technological skills to license, download, and integrate 360° / VR experiences. So we’re in the process of designing a convenient way for teachers to incorporate content from 360Cities into their teaching activities in a variety of ways. The service we are creating will be a hosted service, meaning that content will remain on our servers and will not be downloadable by teachers.

Benefits for Contributors

As a 360Cities contributor, you will be eligible to benefit in a number of ways:

  1. Increased views of your panoramas (and eventually videos) by students from all over the world;
  2. Royalties paid by us to you for content we use in pre-packaged experiences we will be creating;
  3. Usage based micro-royalties generated from content that is embedded by teachers into their teaching activities.

We believe that the royalties will be a nice addition to those already being generated and paid via our commercial activities and those of our distribution partners.

We will keep you updated as we move forward with this new service.

We wish all of you well.

Sincerely,

The 360Cities Team
