Canada: Cooper’s Falls, Ontario

Established in 1876 In 1876, Thomas Cooper had built a home and general store near were the black river becomes a waterfall.  A post office was establish by 1878 and Thomas added his surname as the name of the settlement.  Lumber industry soon grew in the surrounding lands and Thomas built a sawmill.  The local lumbermen sustained the general store and the small settlement added a number of other businesses such as a cheese factory and blacksmith.  Today the population stands at 14.http://www.mpsgg.com/Communities/Muskoka/CoopersFalls.html
