Absecon Lighthouse has been an Atlantic City landmark since 1857. Decomissioned in 1933, it was ceremonially re-lighted for Atlanic Ciy's centenary in 1953 and new Jersey's tercentenary in 1965 but otherwise pretty much neglected until the 1990s. Since then it has been nicely retored and is now a popular sightseeing destination.
